Tito’s Handmade Vodka
"Whiskey & Blues" is the quintessential phrase used to describe Jai Malano. Imagine a voice as vast and wide as Texas, with a presence as bold and sensuous as the exotic swampy sands of Florida. In her gritty interpretations of 'Hound Dog' and 'So Good To My Baby', she gives a tasteful nod to the heroes of Rhythm & Blues and Rock & Roll. It's that same respect and admiration for artists like Big Mama Thornton and Big Maybelle, that inspired her own clever writing skills in original tunes, 'Dont' and 'Johnny Knows'. Her debut solo album entitled 'Rocket Girl', was released in 2015 and consists of eight original tunes as well as works by Big Joe Tex and Ike Turner. She has also independently released four new singles,'Lay My Heart at Your Grave', 'Never Look Down'. 'Hearts Never Break Themselves', and 'Practice What is Right'; all available for download. In the last year, Jai Malano has maintained an Austin residency with the legendary C-Boys Heart & Soul, while also traveling around Brazil, England, France, Germany, and the United States. Festival dates have included the Tours Festival in France (July 2015), the SJOCK Fest in Belgium (July 2015), the Bossa & Jazz Festival in Brazil (September 2015), and the Dark Season Blues Festival in Norway (October 2015). In the United States, she has showcased at the Doheny Blues Festival in Dana Point, CA (May 2015), and SXSW Music Conference in Austin, TX (March 2016); while also headlining the Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender in Las Vegas, NV (April 2016). Peter Blackstock of the Austin American-Statesman has raved about her ability to blaze an adventurous new trail in Blues, with her distinctive stamp on R&B and soul greats. She is a gem that you wouldn't want to miss.
