ACL Photo to Screen delivered by T-Mobile

Want to get even more fun out of your ACL Festival weekend? Then grab your mobile phone and join ACL’s Photo to Screen program, delivered by T-Mobile. Fans can snap photos with their phones and submit them for broadcast on the Jumbotrons. It’s easy: Simply snap a photo on your phone while you’re in the park and send it to pics@aclfestival.com. The best shots will make it up on the screen and the ACLFestival.com web site. Not only will your shots be featured on the screens and on the web, but the best photos will also earn some cool prizes.

Waterloo Records Tent

Why settle for just seeing your favorite bands at ACL Festival when you can meet them, too? Check out the schedule of daily autograph sessions at the Waterloo Records tent. While you’re there, pick up the latest CDs and vinyl from your favorite Festival acts.

Barton Springs Beer Garden

Situated on the Town Lake side of the park near the SoCo Art Market, the Barton Springs Beer Garden is a tree-shaded outdoor beer garden where fans can kick back at picnic tables to enjoy refreshing Heinekens or food from the nearby Austin Eats Food Court. It’s the perfect rendezvous point for hooking up with friends between shows.

American Airlines Bag & Chair Check

Experienced ACL-goers know that nothing gets in the way of Festival fun more than lugging your stuff around with you all day. You were smart enough to pack sunscreen, shades, a chair and other essentials for a full-day (or three) in Zilker; now, be even smarter, and take advantage of the American Airlines Bag & Chair Check. They’ll stow and take care of your bag or chair so you don’t have to.

Rock Island Hideaway

The Rock Island Hideaway tent, located in the center of the Festival grounds (behind the Austin Ventures stage), has evolved into a full-on sports bar for 2009. After last year’s success showing sports, the Island will literally Rock with two 12x9-foot screens. That’s right – 12 feet wide each! We’ll be showing all the college and NFL football throughout the weekend. Want to check a score and grab a beer in the shade? Slide into the new sports bar and catch some of the big acts take the stage.

The LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Campaign and the Lance Armstrong Foundation

LIVESTRONG

The LIVESTRONG Global Cancer Campaign, led by Lance Armstrong, is raising awareness of the world’s cancer burden and making the disease a global priority. Since launching in January 2009, the LIVESTRONG campaign has traveled the world, drafting survivors, world leaders, corporations, policymakers and non-profit organizations (like the Love. Hope. Strength. Foundation) striving to inspire action in their communities. The Lance Armstrong Foundation fights for the 28 million people around the world living with cancer today. There can be — and should be — life after cancer for more people. That’s why LIVESTRONG kicks in at the moment of diagnosis, giving people the resources and support they need to fight cancer head-on. LIVESTRONG finds innovative ways to raise awareness, fund research and end the stigma about cancer that many survivors face. They connect people and communities to drive social change, and call for state, national and world leaders to help fight this disease. Anyone, anywhere can join the fight against cancer.

SIMS

SIMS

Since 1995, the SIMS Foundation has provided mental health and addiction treatment services for Austin-area musicians and their families. Through our staff clinicians and our network of over 60 providers, all of whom reduce their rates significantly for SIMS clients, we are able to serve 600 people a year and leverage more than $320,000 of in-kind support. Thank you, Austin, for your commitment to live music and the working musicians who make Austin “The Live Music Capital of the World.” Come visit us on the east side of Rock Island to learn more about our services. HAAM

HAAM

Health Alliance for Musicians (HAAM) is a groundbreaking project that provides access to affordable healthcare to Austin’s low-income, uninsured working musicians. Formed in 2005, the services include primary medical care through Seton Family of Hospitals, basic dental care through St. David’s Community Health Foundation Leadership and mental health/addiction recovery services through The SIMS Foundation. In 2009, HAAM began a pilot project to help musicians access hearing exams and custom-fit earplugs. In 4 years HAAM has served over 1,600 musicians, most of whom earn less than $15,000/year and has earned a 94% approval rating from musicians for quality of care and services. Even though the music industry brings in more than $1 billion to the Austin economy the musicians themselves often work multiple jobs and struggle to pay for rent, food and other basic expenses. Prior to HAAM the musicians were using the emergency room, the most expensive place to receive treatment, for their care. Now they have access to cost-effective, regular medical, dental and mental health services. For more info visit: www.healthallianceforaustinmusicians.org or www.myhaam.org.
