Hailing from the U.K.s Isle of Man, Back Door Slam is power trio in the hallowed tradition of Cream, the Jimi Hendrix Experience and jumping ahead a decade, but still before these young guns time Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble. But Davy Knowles (vocals, guitar and mandolin), Ross Doyle (drums) and Adam Jones (bass) are just as handy spinning off eloquently crafted acoustic balladry as they are with slamming down the meaty blues rock. The album is a grenade launcher, noted Time Out columnist Jason Hood of the bands 2007 debut, Roll Away. Its an incendiary device a melodic, melancholy and effervescent cannon ball set to music.
