This experimental indie outfit from Brooklyn melds pop-rock, folk, and Middle Eastern and African sounds to create music that recalls the late-70s wall of sound style made popular by the collaborations of Brian Eno and David Byrne. Growing up in Baltimore, Chris Keating (keyboard) and Anand Wilder (guitar) perfected their vocal skills in a barbershop quartet before parting ways to attend different colleges. Years later, the two relocated to New York and began shaping the project that would soon become Yeasayer, ultimately comprising Keating (vocals/keyboard), Wilder (vocals/guitar), Ira Wolf Tuton (bass) and Luke Fasano (drummer). In October 2007, the band released All Hour Cymbals, which Spin magazine called a peculiar, positively-powered debut that creates order from a mess of chants, tambourines, freak folk, and spacey atmospherics.
