The ACL Festival will be crawling with guitar players all weekend long, but if its a really good didgeridoo-honking dude youre hankering to hear, Xavier Rudd is your man. Hailing from Australia (naturally), but with a second home base in Canada, Rudd is a one-man-band whos also handy on guitar, banjo, lap steel, bongos, drums, harmonica, clarinet and saxophone. All of the above, along with his engaging original tunes that convey his passion for environmental and social activism, makes Rudds music connect particularly well with fans of Jack Johnson, Ben Harper and fellow Aussies the John Butler Trio. An established star Down Under, Rudd has toured with the Dave Matthews Band and Ani DiFranco in the States, where his last two albums, 2005s Food in the Belly and last years White Moth, were released by Anti-.
