Every time I hear a Mason Jennings album, it changes the way I see the world around me. Any artist would surely feel blessed to hear sincere praise that encouraging from the president of their new record label. That the label honcho in this case just happens to be none other than fellow artist (and friend) Jack Johnson, well, thats just icing on the cake for singer-songwriter Mason Jennings, who will release his first album for Johnsons Brushfire Records, In the Ever, this May. Jennings actually had the good fortune to enjoy similar love and support at his last label, too the Epic imprint Glacial Peak, run by Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse. And long before Jennings (born in Honolulu, raised in Pittsburgh and based in Minneapolis) even had famous friends on the level of Brock and Johnson offering to help put his records out, he already had a tremendously loyal audience from coast to coast, with sales of more than 100,000 copies of his first four independent albums to prove it.
