The ACL Festival has always been a genre-blending melting pot much like Texas music itself. From folk to country to blues to rock to rap to cutting-edge techno, its all fair game here, and bands like Flyleaf are the proof. Fronted by the charismatic Lacey Mosley, this potent five-piece from Belton, Texas, trades in brooding, heavily aggressive nu-metal shot through with a uniquely positive message about overcoming adversity. Mosley and drummer James Culpepper started playing together in 2000, with guitarists Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann and bassist Pat Seals all coming onboard in time for Flyleafs 2005 full-length debut (originally released on the independent Octone label before eventually being reissued by Interscope).
