This terminally mellow, San Diego-based, reggae-rock outfit got its first break when Sublime front man Bradley Nowell signed the band to his Skunk Records an appropriate union, given both Sublimes and Slightly Stoopids deep-seated belief that party music neednt be brainless. Lots of young punks have picked up Sublimes musical thread since Nowells untimely passing in 1996, but Slightly Stoopids core duo, Miles Doughty and Kyle McDonald, seem to adhere most closely to Nowells philosophical ethos. Although the band is clearly in its natural element onstage (given its reputation for epic-length, smile and dance-inducing jams), Slightly Stoopids studio output has always been party worthy, too especially their 2005 breakthrough, Closer to the Sun, and last years rocksteady Chronchitis.
