The Eli Young Bands namesake isnt one Eli Young, but rather two specifically, co-founders Mike Eli and James Young. Eli and Young first started out as a duo six years ago at the University of North Texas, coming up on the same thriving Denton, Texas scene that has also produced the likes of Midlake and the late Slobberbone. With the addition of bassist Jon Jones and drummer Chris Thompson to the fold, the Eli Young Band was complete. The groups 2005 Carnival Records debut, Level, drew comparisons to the Jayhawks and Counting Crows. The crowd-pleasing Live at the Jolly Fox followed in late 06.
