Drawing from such seemingly diverse sources as John Lee Hooker, Bob Dylan and De La Soul, singer, songwriter, guitarist and harp-howler G. Love (born Garrett Dutton) helped inject deep roots into the modern rock world with early hits like Babys Got Sauce. With their 1994 debut album, G. Love & Special Sauce (Dutton plus standup bassist Jim Prescott and drummer Jeff Clemens) became the first act signed to Epic Records reactivated OKeh rhythm-and-blues imprint. Since then, the combination of youthful attitude and time-honored roots exemplified by the trios scruffily organic interplay and the suave singers slouchy slacker raps has won the group an audience thats as diverse as the groups myriad stylistic influences. In 2004, the group hooked up with Jack Johnsons Brushfire Records to release The Hustle, followed by 2006s Lemonade. A perennial crowd favorite at the ACL Festival, G. Love returns to Zilker Park in support of their new album, Superhero Brother, out June 24 on Brushfire Records.
