Far From Funnel Cake & Turkey Legs

Austin is known for its food and Austin City Limits Music Festival is no different.

With signature ACL fare such as the Hot and Crunchy Mighty Cone, vegetarian and gluten-free considerations and options far from funnel cakes or turkey legs, Austin Eats showcases the most premier Austin restaurants. Food vendors will be serving all day. All vendors accept cash, and there are plenty of ATM’s available.

The 2014 Austin Eats Food Court vending application is available until June 6. We invite Austin-Area restaurants to apply to represent Austin’s thriving food scene in Zilker Park for six days of music, food, art, and festivities. mmmpanadas is the creation of husband-wife team Cody and Kristen Fields. A U.T. Grad, Cody fell in love with empanadas while working in Costa Rica. Then, on a trip to Austin in 2006 Cody met Kristen and fell in love with her too. Together, they began making a variety of empanadas for local bars and coffee shops. Next thing they knew, they were married and slinging gourmet empanadas our of a big red truck. In 1967, Scott’s father Thurman who was known for his delicious barbecue at family reunions, decided he would cook meat for paying customers. Thurman and his son, Scott, built a huge, stone barbecue pit which is still used to this day. Thurman would go to the pit on Thursday night and start cooking. He stayed for the weekend, sleeping on a cot, until all the meat sold. He kept coming home earlier and earlier. After a few months, Scott and Thurman built a little screen porch around the pit and grew from there to what it is today!

Torchy’s Tacos started in 2006 with a mobile trailer, a Vespa, and a man with a passion for good food. Seven years ago, Mike Rypka left an executive chef position to chase his dreams by investing everything he had into Torchy’s Tacos. With a menu ready to serve but no mouths to feed, Rypka jumped on his scooter and started throwing out samples in an attempt to draw customers to his trailer. Before he knew it, people were rallying beside the taco stand hollering, “damn these tacos are good!” and so the legacy began. Today, Torchy’s operates 20 locations.
