Austin Music People
Health Alliance for Musicians (HAAM) is a groundbreaking project that provides access to affordable healthcare to Austin’s low-income, uninsured working musicians. Formed in 2005, HAAM has served over 2,700 musicians many of whom say HAAM has changed their lives and saved their careers. Locals should come visit the HAAM ACL Cares booth for information about how you can get involved and make a personal impact on the overall health of Austin’s music community. For visitors, come learn about the value that the Austin community places on supporting its music community. Additionally, our affiliate service provider for hearing health, Estes Audiology, will be distributing free ear plugs at the HAAM booth. Hearing conservation is important for both musicians and music lovers alike.
KLRU-TV, Austin PBS is dedicated to telling stories about our community. KLRU’s signature series – AUSTIN CITY LIMITS – began as a celebration of the Austin music scene and has grown into the longest-running live music show on television. ACL TV inspires millions of fans each week on PBS and is the inspiration for this Festival. KLRU highlights what makes Austin unique – whether music, arts or public issues – by creating and distributing award-winning original content creation. As a nonprofit educational organization, KLRU also helps prepare children for success and creates lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Love Hope Strength
Love Hope Strength (LHS) is an international, music-centric cancer charity dedicated to “SAVING LIVES, ONE CONCERT AT A TIME”. The mission is to save lives, right now, with the advances that have already been made in cancer care. We do not fund cancer research, rather we use our funds to build awareness to global cancer needs, build and support cancer centers around the globe and build international marrow databases through our “GET ON THE LIST” campaign.
Rock The Vote
Rock the Vote’s mission is to engage and build political power for young people in our country. Founded more than twenty years ago at the intersection of popular culture and politics, In 2012 Rock the Vote supported the tidal wave of young people who wanted to get involved in elections and seize the power of the youth vote to create political and social change.
Over the last two decades, Rock the Vote has registered more young people to vote than any other organization or campaign. We have used music, popular culture, new technologies and grassroots organizing to engage and mobilize young people to participate in every election. By providing them with the information and tools they need, Rock the Vote has registered more than 5 million young people, including more than 2.5 million in the historic 2008 election. In 2010, Rock the Vote logged more than 250,000 voter registration downloads as part of the largest midterm elections outreach strategy in our organization’s history. We intend to register and turn out millions more in years to come, and to be the best-informed place online where young people can find out what they need to know before casting a ballot. Millions of new voters between the ages of 18 – 29 cast ballots in 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 – and they will continue to do so. Rock the Vote is dedicated to building the political power and clout of the Millennial Generation by registering and turning out young people, by forcing the candidates to campaign to them, and by making politicians pay attention to youth and the issues they care about once in office.”
Our mission is to build a broad and trusting community of land owners and gardeners that yields the efficient use of land and a greener planet. SharedEarth.com was born out of our own experience finding a gardener online. As we searched around, we found others who were connecting in the same way. We built SharedEarth.com to facilitate this process and create a national land and gardener match making service.
