The Barton Hills Choir is not your typical elementary school choir. These kids rock out with local Austin musicians and have performed all around Austin including the ACL festival, SXSW, KUT radio, and the Zilker Park Tree Lighting. Last year, the choir had the honor of performing ‘Another Brick in the Wall’ with Roger Waters in front of a sold out Frank Erwin Center. The choir consists of 4th through 6th graders from Barton Hills Elementary School located about a mile away from Zilker Park. Their repertoire can range from golden oldies like Elvis and The Beach Boys to songs from more current bands like Wilco and The Flaming Lips. The choir is directed by Gavin Tabone and accompanied by Jake Perlman on drums, Don Cento on guitar, and Jason Brint on bass. This year, the choir will perform an abridged, kid friendly version of Muse's classic album, 'Black Holes and Revelations', along with other choir classics.
